Welcome to the Diederich College of Communication blog! We hope this site will serve as a launch pad for ideas—a place where the faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends of the college can share thoughts about current trends in the ever-evolving world of media and communication, the issues that affect us and the many exciting events happening in our college.

A few topics that we plan to explore in future posts include the role of media in a democratic society, how emerging technologies shape the communication professions and how they will ultimately shape the world into which our students graduate.

We’ll discuss the recent and upcoming events unique to our college. Each year, we host a diverse lineup of distinguished guest speakers to share their wisdom and experience with our students. Recent visitors have included journalists Lisa Ling, (former co-host of ABC’s The View, host of National Geographic Explorer, special correspondent for the Oprah Winfrey Show and CNN) and Chris Broussard (ESPN.com and ESPN the Magazine), Digital Kitchen president Don McNeill and many others.

Through our blog we’ll engage in conversation with current and future students, as well as alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the college. We welcome your thoughts on any topic and look forward to hearing your thoughts about the multifaceted worlds on communication and media.
